Mole Creek Karst National Park

Mole Creek Karst National Park is a haven of limestone caves, beautiful scenery and plentiful wildlife. There are numerous tours which you can join around the various caves. For those with a bit of adventure and a little experience the wild caves are great to look around. Just as spectacular are King Solomon Cave and Marakoopa Cave. Solomon Cave is a dry cave that features beautiful reflective calcite crystals. Marakoopa Cave is a wet cave featuring underground streams and a large group of glow-worms, which are very unusual to see.

Another aspect of this region are the Leatherwood trees. Its flowers create a honey, which is unique to the Western region of Tasmania. You can find out loads of information about the process and the farming of honey from the Leatherwood trees, at the Stephens Leatherwood Honey Factory. There is also a great wildlife park in the area called the Trowunna Wildlife Park.

There is a selection of accommodation in and around Mole Creek, including camping and holiday villages to hotels and guesthouses, so there should be something for your taste.
