There are various National Parks within the McPherson Range all offering their own walking trails and activities. The Gold Coast Hinterland also features a host of wildlife and many different species of birds. |
Two main towns in the Gold Coast Hinterland include Mudgeeraba and Nerang. The Nerang River is an integral part of the cotton, dairy, sugar and timber industries within the Gold Coast Hinterland. Nerang is a centre for the Hinterland with a strong country lifestyle.
Mudgeeraba is also a country town, set at the base of the Tallai Hills. On the first Saturday of the month is a popular village fair which features a number of different stalls and entertainment. |

Heading west from Nerang or Oxenford the first part of the McPherson Range which you will come across is Tamborine Mountain, which itself is broken down into 9 individual National Parks and makes a great place to stop for something to eat. |
|
 |
Continuing on you will also come to the Springbrook National Park, which is based around Mt Cougal, Natural Bridge, and Springbrook. A fantastic drive to Springbrook is along the Springbrook Road from Mudgeeraba, passing fabulous rainforest and scenery along the way. |
Another National Park within the Gold Coast Hinterland
is the Lamington National Park which is west of Springbrook National
Park. The Lamington National Park is home to the Lamington Plateau
and features some spectacular rainforest.
An enjoyable drive throughout the Gold Coast
Hinterland is the Gold Coast Hinterland Wine Trail. There are
some fabulous boutique wineries where you can taste delicious
wines and exquisite food.
Throughout the Gold Coast Hinterland there are a number of places where you can stay including camping grounds, and several lodges and guesthouses. It is a beautiful place to stay and very relaxing.
