Victoria has named itself the 'Garden State',
melbourne being a wonderful example of this with a number
of beautiful gardens surrounding the city areas. |

Kings Domain is a large park to the south
of the city following the bank of the Yarra River. To the
north of the park is the outdoor performance area, Sidney
Myer Music Bowl. To the west of the park is Birdwood Avenue
hosting a number of places of interest including Government
House, built in 1872.

Further south you'll find the Royal Botanic
Gardens which offer magnificent plants as well as wildlife.
The gardens are open all day and have free entrance.

To the north of the city is Royal Park, home to various
parkland, various sports areas and Melbourne Zoo.
To the east, dividing the city from East Melbourne is
Fitzroy Gardens. As well as lovely landscape you can visit
Captain Cook's Cottage, furnished in a traditional 18th
century style.

Along the Yarra River you'll come across more spectacular
park and bushland, making it a wonderful place for a bikeride
or a walk.
